1. What is 183 Days
183 Days is a tool designed to record and track days of physical presence by country, supporting personal control of tax residency.
The app allows users to clearly and accurately view how many days they have spent in each country within a given period.
183 Days does not provide tax or legal advice.
It is a tool for information organisation and personal tracking.
2. Core Concept
In many jurisdictions, tax residency is determined by the number of days of physical presence in a country, typically calculated over a 12-month period or a calendar year.
👉 Each day matters.
👉 Control is the user’s responsibility.
3. First Access
When opening the app for the first time:
• No account creation is required
• No email or personal data is requested
• All data is stored locally on the user’s device
4. Adding a country
How to add a country:
1. Tap on the "Globe" to add a country.
2. Describe the country's name.
3. Assign a colour to this country to make it easier to visualise later in the calendar.
4. Indicate how many days this country requires your physical presence to consider you a taxpayer.
5. Recording days of presence
After adding the countries, you are ready to start recording the day of presence.
To record a stay:
1. Select the country
2. Enter the entry date
3. Enter the exit date
4. Save. The app will automatically fill in the main calendar and start calculating the total number of days spent in this country.
The user is responsible for ensuring that all entered dates are accurate.
6. Saving documents on a selected day
After adding a date range to the calendar, you can select a specific day, tap on it, and add additional details such as notes, a photo, or a PDF of your tickets.
Saving photos of your tickets provides proof of your entry and exit days if needed.
At the end, the app generates a report that includes all the attached documents you have saved.
Note that days with attachments will show a small dot on the calendar, indicating that documents are attached to that day.
Also, taping the day in the calendar, you can also change the country.
7. Viewing total days
At any time, by clicking on the icon “Report", you can:
• See the total accumulated days for each county
• Monitor progress over time
• Quickly identify proximity to sensitive thresholds
The interface is intentionally simple to reduce the risk of misinterpretation.
You have two types of reports:
Report 1: Shows the number of days spent in each country over the last 12 months from a specific date you specify. For countries like Brazil, which track days within the past 12 months rather than the calendar year, Report 1 is most suitable.
Report 2: Displays the number of days spent in each country within a user-defined date range.
8. Data management and deletion
By tapping on the “list” icon, you will be able to:
At any time, the user may:
• Edit records, by taping an specific day;
• Delete individual stays, by scrolling to the left;
• Delete and interval of dates by clicking in “select"and selecting the days to be
deleted from the records.
Here is the main report that the app can generate for you. And you're going to love it.
By tapping the “export” icon, the app will compile and export all records for the selected year and country.
The report is divided into three parts:-
First: lists every record added in the app;-
Second: summarises the days spent in each country;-
Third: attaches all the files added on a specific day.
We highly recommend generating and exporting this report at the end of each year and sending it to your email, saving it on your computer, or uploading it to the cloud.
9. Best practicesy
• Record dates as close as possible to the actual travel
• Review data regularly
• Do not rely solely on memory
• Save all the tickets and documents; if you need them, they will be accessible there.
10. Important limitations
183 Days app:
• Does not interpret tax legislation
• Does not automatically determine tax residency
• Does not replace tax advisors or legal professionals
Tax laws vary by country and may change over time.
11. Closing
